If you live in or around the city, you already know that the driving conditions can be hectic at times. Despite doing everything you can to stay safe, there may be a time when you need a Phoenix car accident attorney.
If another person’s negligence has caused you or a loved one harm, Lorona Mead is here to help. We will work diligently to secure the compensation you need for all of your crash-related expenses. Today, we want to talk about a recent deadly crash on 67th Avenue.
What Happened Here?
We have learned that a second person has died in a crash that happened recently on 67th Avenue near Lower Buckeye Road. According to police, the crash happened at about 7:40 pm on May 6.
Reports say that a Lincoln Navigator was driving north on 67th when it crossed over the painted median into oncoming traffic. The Navigator collided with a Chevy Sonic and then a Chevy Tahoe.
The driver of the Navigator was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. The driver of the Sonic was also killed in the crash. Four other people were injured in the crash but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
What Can Happen?
When we look at the latest reporting year for Arizona, we can see that there were more than 127,000 total crashes. Out of those incidents, there were:
- 1,000 fatalities reported
- 55,474 injuries reported
While most vehicle crash injuries are minor, we know that is not always the case. It is not uncommon for us to see the following injuries as a result of a vehicle crash:
- Spinal cord injuries (with possible paralysis)
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Internal organ damage/internal bleeding
- Broken or dislocated bones
- Severe lacerations or amputations
Each of these injuries requires immediate medical care. In many cases, the victim will need extended rehabilitation time. This could lead to time away from work and lost income. The total costs to crash victims and their families can be tremendous.
We want to point out that 32% of all vehicle crash fatalities for the latest reporting year were the result of alcohol-related crashes. These incidents, along with distracted driving and speeding, are major causes of concern for Phoenix drivers.
